Summary of Major Responsibilities

The EHS Intern will assist the EHS Manager, EHS Specialist and cross functional teams to improve safety culture and to meet/exceed regulatory and corporate policy requirements.  The position is intended to be a part-time opportunity for an Occupational Health and Safety or Industrial Engineering undergraduate to obtain hands-on EHS experience with a wide variety of tasks while contributing to the company’s overall goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and maintaining EHS written and training programs
  • Create and review JSA (Job Safety Analysis) with cross-functional groups
  • Perform Ergonomic Risk Assessments and evaluations
  • Perform new hire orientation training
  • Complete hazardous waste storage area inspections
  • Participate in annual Risk Assessments
  • Co-lead EHS Corporate Safety Committee
  • Perform annual chemical inventory review
  • Support daily EHS activities (i.e. audits, incident investigations, corrective action follow-up etc.)

Qualifications

Mandatory Skills

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication, organizational, time-management and multitasking skills

Education and Experience

 

  • Enrollment towards Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Industrial Engineering
  • Preference giving to candidates with a record of outstanding academic achievement

Physical Requirements

 

  • May be required to lift up to 25lbs on an infrequent basis up to 20% of the time
