Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Marketing Manager, Consumer determines the optimal promotional strategy and tactical mix to increase product awareness, conversion and utilization of Cologuard among potential patients aged 50 and older at average risk for colon cancer. In this role, s/he is responsible for identifying consumer insights, building and championing brand foundations, and executing promotional tactics for Cologuard across TV, print, digital, social, native content, and other channels.  The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding marketing acumen, as well as collaboration and project management skills including the ability to manage without authority, communicate effectively with marketing agencies and external partners, and manage budgets.


The Marketing Manager, Consumer will report to the Director of Marketing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, plan and execute consumer-facing marketing programs and tactics to support brand strategy and drive awareness, conversion and utilization of Cologuard among potential patients. Tactics may include, but are not limited to, TV, print, digital, social media, native content, email, and direct mail. 
  • Manage marketing agencies and external partners to develop and execute programs targeted to potential patients. Provide strategic, customer-centric, relevant, timely, and constructive feedback during development.
  • Partner with Corporate Affairs on branded elements of corporate partnerships.  Tactics may include, but are not limited to, celebrity spokesperson campaigns, sports marketing, and advocacy programs.
  • Partner with team members and cross-functional peers in Brand Marketing, Corporate Communications, Sales, and Market Access to ensure alignment and/or harmony of the core brand message platform and initiatives across all stakeholder audiences, including physician, payer, consumer, etc.
  • Collaborate with Commercial Analytics team to ensure appropriate analytical plans are developed and executed to measure promotional program effectiveness, efficiency, and ROI.  Support key longitudinal quantitative studies (ie, “attitudes, awareness, and usage” survey); attend presentations, interpret findings, and socialize results and implications.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (life science, engineering, marketing, business, or related field of study)
  • Minimum of five to six years of marketing experience in healthcare marketing (device/diagnostic/pharmaceutical), or consumer goods or service marketing
  • Ability to motivate and lead teams of cross-functional resources in a matrixed organization with competing priorities, with or without direct authority or reporting relationships
  • Ability to manage and prioritize strategies, initiatives and workload proactively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Exceptional project management skills including coordination, communication and adherence to budget and completion goals, prioritization and troubleshooting
  • Exceptional interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Strong marketing/business acumen and experience managing external agencies; proven track record of success in digital and social marketing in the past five to six years
  • Adaptable, open to change, and able to work in ambiguous situations with some direction and respond to new information and unexpected circumstances
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office products
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time

Desired Characteristics

  • MBA or MS in relevant field
  • Previous experience with continuous improvement, lean, or six sigma initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to present to and influence senior leadership (VP level)
  • PMP Certification or project management experience
