Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Sales Training Manager position is to optimize sales force effectiveness (SFE) and enhance engagement. The primary responsibility is assessing the training needs of newly hired sales professionals and will execute in the design, development, and delivery of appropriate content.  This position will work closely with the sales leadership team, marketing, regulatory, and clinical resources to define the training solutions that address all aspects of the Exact Sciences New Hire Training Program. This individual will also identify and bridge the gaps in knowledge, competency, and skill for new hire sales professionals.  This position will report directly to the Sr. Manager, National Sales Training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development of training initiatives with other SFE personnel and cross-functional partners as appropriate
  • Delivering to a variety of audiences including new hires: internal and external sales representatives, area managers and account managers.
  • Partner with sales and marketing to develop and deliver training processes and programs that are prioritized, scheduled, and driven by approved business strategy.
  • Lead the design of new hire curriculum and job aids that build mastery required to improve performance in field sales including: product knowledge, sales skills, business analytics, and territory/time
  • Deliver training through a variety of mediums (classroom, webinar, e-learning, teleconference, field visits, etc.).
  • Provide performance feedback of new hire sales professionals in order to optimize development and create seamless transitions from the training environment to work in the field.
  • Establish and enhance processes to operationalize delivery and tracking of sales training while maximizing the use of the Exact Academy (LMS system).
  • Contribute to a collaborative environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve desired business results.
  • Conducts large training events such as national sales meetings, new product launches and field force expansions.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times and enforces Sales Training and Exact Sciences Policies
  • Complies with all Exact Sciences Operational Guidelines and Code of Conduct and ensures that all activities, observed or taught, are also in accordance with these guidelines

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Minimum 4 years of sales experience 
  • Strong clinical, selling skills and marketplace knowledge
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • Strong communication (written and oral), and presentation skills (small and large groups)
  • Demonstrates Leadership and Accountability in current role
  • Travel limited to assisting various meetings outside of Madison office

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in project management and developing and delivering effective presentations
  • Medical sales experience 
  • Previous field training experience
  • Master’s Degree
  • Miller Heiman Strategic Selling and/or Conceptual Selling certification
  • Product Launch or Expansion Launch experience
  • Experience leading advisory groups and mentoring
  • Experience with in any type of stretch role
