  • Summary of Major Responsibilities

    The Accounts Payable Specialist I is responsible for performing accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions in order to ensure effective and accurate financial and administrative operations. This includes evaluating transactions for proper classification and work with supervisor to determine correct action regarding the posting of the transactions. The Accounts Payable Specialist I also helps maintain the Company’s Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 compliance, and policies and procedures as they relate to the company’s ERP system and document imaging system.  

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Monitor the corporate Accounts Payable email
    • Perform day to day processing of accounts payable transactions in SAP (ERP software) and OnBase (electronic workflow) for USD invoices in a timely manner
    • Assist with monthly review of goods received but not yet invoiced
    • Receive and file packing slips from receiving department
    • Adhere to accounting policies and procedures that are in compliance with applicable government regulations (SOX, GAAP, IFRS)
    • Assist in gathering  information for external auditors for the annual audit, quarterly reviews and SOX internal control testing
    • Other tasks as assigned by management  

    Qualifications

     Required Qualifications

    • Associate Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
    • Demonstrated understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software Suite
    • Ability to interact, coordinate and communicate effectively with internal staff and external vendors, both verbally and in writing

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with SAP or other ERP system
    • Experience with a 10-key data entry process
    • Knowledge of a Workflow Management Software
    • Understanding of SOX compliance

     

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to use computers daily in an interactive manner for extended periods of time and up to 8 hours per day
    • Ability to sit for an extended period of time
    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and up to 6 hours at a time
    • Ability to listen and speak on the telephone and write simultaneously
    • Ability to frequently and accurately communicate with employees, customers, and vendors in person, via the telephone or by email
    • Ability to operate telephone system and computer keyboard and printer
    • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis
