  • Summary of Major Responsibilities

    The Revenue Cycle Specialist is responsible for supporting how the Revenue Cycle Department interacts with other departments of Exact Sciences, serving as a liaison to ensure alignment of processes, communication, and documentation. Primary partners of the Revenue Cycle Department include but are not limited to Market Access, Legal, Revenue Cycle Call team, and Finance. The Revenue Cycle Specialist also works with the Training team to identify necessary document updates and assist with document creation.


    This is a Monday – Friday position with flexible hours (start time between 6 - 9am).

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Has a proven track record of being able to resolve high complexity revenue cycle problems including but not limited to missing documentation, remittance issues, and special handling of high priority payors.
    • Familiarity with 2 or more of the following Explanation of Benefits (EOB); Advance Beneficiary Notices (ABN), Appointment of Representative (AOR), Waiver of Liability (WOL), Medical Coding and other standard industry terms and demonstrated ability to read and interpret associated documentation.
    • Identify issues with billing, coding, and reimbursement related to payments and communicate these to appropriate member of the Exact Sciences Revenue Cycle leadership Team.
    • Takes an active role in process improvement initiatives related to revenue cycle functions in collaboration with the Revenue Cycle leadership team.
    • Ensure compliance with all Company procedures and guidelines including but not limited to Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
    • Stay current with relevant guidelines and policies for medical billing.
    • Follow attendance guidelines.
    • Conduct all assigned job duties in a timely and productive manner.
    • Perform all job duties according to department policies and procedures.
    • Provide extra resource when needed within the department (ie Appeal Processing, Eligibility Tasks, Cash Posting) (Lead, DIS etc.).
    • Work cross functionally with all areas of the Exact Sciences Organization to assure maximum productivity.
    • Demonstrates good skills in all forms of communication.
    • Works well with others in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
    • Completes position responsibilities by following established guidelines and protocols within the appropriate time frame.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.


    Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

    • Ability to operate telephone system, fax machine, printer, scanner, personal computer, photocopier.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Power Point).
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
    • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
    • Disciplined, self-motivated & reliable; able to stay focused on a task and work independently; motivated to perform quality work; diligent about arriving to work on time and completing tasks that are assigned in a timely manner.
    • Possesses a positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and build strong working relationships with customers as well as peers at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing workload and circumstances effectively; able to respond to new information quickly.
    • Professionalism: conducts themselves in a professional manner in all interactions with members of the Exact Sciences team, clients and associates.
    • Completes position responsibilities by following established guidelines & protocols.
    • Overtime when needed.


    Necessary Education & Experience

    • High School diploma or GED. 
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in medical or insurance billing field or related Associates degree/medical billing certification.
    • Demonstrated experience working in Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point).
    • Previous experience working with billing software.


    Desired Characteristics

    • 4 years Revenue Cycle experience in a medical setting is preferred.
    • Some college course work preferred but not required.
    • Demonstrates initiative and willingness to continuously improve processes.


    Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

    • Position requires work in normal office environment.
    • Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time.
    • Subject to long or irregular hours.
    • Subject to frequent interruptions.
