  • Summary of Major Responsibilities

    The Data Architect (DA) will be responsible for enabling the efficient and actionable use of a data across the enterprise by developing and implementing an enterprise data strategy that aligns enterprise information assets with business and technology strategy. This will include documenting and rationalizing multiple data repositories and organizing them into an enterprise data warehouse (EDW) containing clinical, sales, financial, and operational data. The DA will work with EDW and Analytics management, data governance staff, data owners, and BI and data management professionals.

     

    The DA will stay abreast of current and emerging data management technologies and trends and advise on how they can be used to support business and technology objectives. The successful candidate will have leadership skills, be customer focused, and have experience developing enterprise data architecture solutions.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Interact and lead discussions with stakeholders to determine scope and translate it into the technical design to grow the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
    • Lead the translation of business needs into data-centric semantic layer designs.
    • Design and implement highly performant and secure structures such as staging areas, integrated data, data marts, and operational data stores.
    • Suggest, document and enforce data warehousing best practices including overall Data warehouse architecture.
    • Drive and document the source to target mapping.
    • Estimate and communicate the work effort to stakeholders and own the deliverables.
    • Review, improve and enhance existing models to ensure compliance with best practices around master data management across technology platforms.
    • Act independently under general direction and may also provide technical consulting on complex projects throughout the organization.
    • Suggest improvements to data quality.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A degree in engineering, physics, computer sciences, math, information systems, statistics, or similar area of study, or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
    • 3+ years' experience as a Data Architect or Data Modeler, ideally in the healthcare or related industry.
    • Broad, working knowledge of relational database systems, ideally including MS SQL.
    • Expertise with data modeling (relational, multi-dimensional, columnar, etc.), architecture and documentation.
    • Expertise in the fields of data quality, data profiling, data security, Master Data concepts, and data migration.
    • Working knowledge of information security best practices and commitment to information security.
    • Strong leadership, interpersonal, influencing, collaboration and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to communicate with high proficiency, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and staff, in both technical language and layman’s terms.
    • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
    • Able to prioritize effectively according to department needs, and ability to organize a large number of changing variables.
    • Ability to assess and solve complex technical problems.

     Preferred Qualifications

    • Cloud warehousing and data lake technologies like Redshift or Snowflake.
    • EMR, especially Epic Caboodle, Clarity and Cogito.
    • Big data platforms.
    • Financial, sales, operational data.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to use computers daily in an interactive manner for extended periods of time and up to 8 hours per day.
    • Ability to frequently and accurately communicate with employees, customers, and vendors in person, via the telephone or by email.
    • Constant walking or motion to coordinate work and interact with co-workers.
