  • Summary of Major Responsibilities

    The Security Systems Specialist works under the direction of the Security Manager and has oversight of all Exact Sciences’ physical security systems and hardware, as well as departmental software and technology tools. The Security Systems Specialist collaborates with internal and external business partners, working closely with contracted security contractors and consultants, architects and key stakeholders throughout the business to proactively address security needs to meet current and future company business requirements. The Security Systems Specialist also performs audits and updates of all Corporate Security hardware and software, ensuring the integrity of systems in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and industry standards. 

     

    The Security Systems Specialist arranges and/or performs CCTV camera and cabling installations, data installations, performs hardware and software maintenance and supports overall Corporate Security IT and physical security systems for all existing and future Exact Sciences’ facility projects.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversee the development, implementation and continuous improvement of physical security policies, standards, guidelines and procedures.
    • Evaluate physical security equipment condition and perform preventative maintenance and needed software or firmware updates.
    • Perform S2 Security system updates and oversee the implementation and configuration of physical security hardware, firmware upgrades, enhancements, and maintenance, ensuring the viability of all electronic security systems to minimize business disruption caused by failed or improperly configured systems.
    • Maintain the integrity of Exact Sciences’ S2 System to ensure the integrity of issued access control badges and assigned access levels.
    • Ensure company retention policy requirements regarding CCTV and access control records are adhered to.
    • Perform necessary audits of Exact Sciences’ S2 Security system in accordance with company and corporate security department policies and procedures.
    • Perform quantitative and qualitative threat, vulnerability, and risk analyses.
    • Monitor the S2 Security system for both system and user generated alarms and other irregularities, troubleshoot, and take necessary corrective action when required.
    • With oversight by the Security Manager, administer and oversee the design and installation of all access control and electronic surveillance hardware connected to the S2 system across all Exact Sciences’ locations.
    • With oversight by the Security Manager, define security system standards, policies, required upgrades, maintenance, and day-to-day management of all security systems through system integrators or internal resources.
    • Stay informed of corporate security industry trends and solutions encompassing all physical security products with ability to analyze for possible application in our environment.
    • Work with Corporate Security and IT staff to develop and maintain standards, processes, and documentation.
    • Assign and/or update incident severity levels based on business impact and risk during peak business.
    • Serve as primary trainer for the corporate security department, ensuring all personnel are proficient with the S2 Security system; document training accordingly.
    • Serve as the liaison between the corporate security department and the Exact Sciences’ Information Technology Department on S2; network and coordinate with IT to arrange necessary work and maintenance to be completed in a timely manner.
    • Be the primary point-of-contact between the corporate security department and all vendors/contractors involved in the installation and maintenance of the S2 system, providing product research, feasibility studies, project planning, tracking, and quality assurance and overall vendor communication and management.
    • Assist Exact Facilities, IT, and vendors in the installation of approved physical security systems.
    • Serve as the key Corporate Security contact for information and consulting of departments in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the physical security systems.
    • Work directly with technology partners regarding resolution of application bugs and other systems issues, holding them accountable for service level standards.
    • Partner with stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget, while meeting business needs and deadlines.
    • Serve as primary liaison with vendors and business stakeholders for corporate security technology requirements.
    • Ability to use computers daily in an interactive manner for extended periods of time and up to 8 hours per day.
    • Ability to utilize tools used for the installation of physical security systems (ladder, electronic lift, standard installation tools).
    • Ability to travel (by land and air), both domestically and internationally, on occasion.
    • Ability to frequently and accurately communicate with employees, customers, and vendors in person, via the telephone or by email.
    • Constant walking or motion to coordinate work and interact with co-workers.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and up to 6 hours at a time.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Associates degree in information technology or security/law enforcement; or high school degree/general education diploma and 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
    • 2+ years of experience working in a technical support role.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Knowledge and experience administering industry-standard security equipment, including but not limited to access control and CCTV systems, alarms and security incident reporting and dispatching software.
    • Works independently with little oversight and direction.
    • Experience in electronic access control systems including hardware and software components as well as information technology security practices.
    • Thorough knowledge of PC and Camera Operating Systems.
    • Effective written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to read and understand construction-related security and electrical diagrams.
    • Assertive and proactive approach in identifying and resolving conflicts, issues, and concerns.
    • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships – works with a dynamic and diverse team in a collaborative, integrated manner.
    • Demonstrated computer proficiency within the Windows environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities by prioritizing daily tasks and operational demands and meet deadlines.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Must possess a valid driver's license, have no more than 2 moving violations in the past 36 months, and have no unresolved revocation or suspension issues.
    • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience using S2 Security and Omnigo Security software.
    • Experience using ServiceNow for IT Service Management.
    • Experience using Cloudgate/SoloInsight.
