  • Summary of Major Responsibilities

    The Technical Writer is responsible for creating and modifying technical documents related to instruments and automation such as service procedures, user and service manuals and training materials. This role will compose clear technical information to explain complex information in a coherent and concise manner, partnering with engineering staff and scientists to ensure accuracy of process descriptions.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Partners with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product, the audience and the documentation requirements.
    • Works cross functionally with regulatory, quality, document users and subject matter experts, owning the creation and evolution of applicable documentation.
    • Determines the clearest and most logical way to present information and instructions for greatest reader comprehension.
    • Writes and edits technical information accordingly.
    • Prepares graphics and illustrations to elaborate on or complement technical writing.
    • Produces high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards that are appropriate for the intended audience.
    • Revises, edits or updates instructions, technical information and frequently asked questions as necessary.
    • Creates, adapts and follows project schedules and deadlines.
    • Remains up-to-date on product developments and document requirements.
    • Ability to use computers daily in an interactive manner for extended periods of time and up to 8 hours per day.
    • Ability to frequently and accurately communicate with coworkers and vendors in person, via the telephone or by email.
    • Ability to sit or stand for an extended period of time.
    • Ability to follow company safety guidelines.


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Engineering, Technical Communications or related field; or high school degree/general education diploma and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
    • 3+ years of technical writing experience in an engineering, biotechnology, or software field.
    • Proven working experience in an equipment / hardware technical writing position.
    • Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail.
    • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
    • Ability to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
    • Excellent written skills in English.
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • Strong time management skills including prioritization.
    • Excellent organizational skills including aptitude in multi-tasking.
    • Strong verbal communication and ability to collaborate cross functionally.
    • Experience working within a regulated document control environment.
