  • Summary of Major Responsibilities

    The Manager, Public Relations will lead and executing strategies that deliver measurable results to support our business. This individual will advance and protect Exact Sciences’ corporate profile across our region by highlighting the company’s scientific focus. 

     

    As a leader on the Corporate Affairs team, the position will bring exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a proven ability to build media relationships, and a focus on telling our story to editors and reporters.

     

    This position will focus on the Public Relations for the company’s R&D, Scientific, and Pipeline functions. This role will connect the science and business expertise of the company to our mission of earlier cancer detection.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Design, build, and manage Public Relations programs to promote corporate brand related activities to achieve business and corporate objectives. May lead or participate in public relations and social media campaigns.
    • Research and understand the science that powers the Exact Sciences pipeline; specifically, how it can be translated into a narrative and shared with external audiences.
    • Conceptualize, write and edit articulate content for a variety of audiences, connecting to the company mission and values.
    • Partner with Exact Sciences’ communications team and PR agency to execute strategies for proactive outreach to both consumer and healthcare-focused media.
    • Write news releases, arrange interviews and prepare corporate spokespeople.
    • Conceptualize, write and edit articulate content for a variety of audiences, connecting to the company mission and values.
    • Work quickly and under pressure when communications priorities dictate.
    • Anticipate PR needs and proposes solutions.
    • Manage staff including but not limited to organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
    • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
    • Regular and reliable attendance.
    • Ability to work normal schedule of Monday through Friday during normal business hours.
    • Any soft skills which are required to perform the job e.g. excellent communication, teamwork, etc..
    • Ability to work in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
    • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
    • Ability to travel approximately 20% of working time .

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 6+ years of progressive experience in public relations, media relations or corporate communications and related positions.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in mass communication, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field.
    • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
    • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 1+ years of Healthcare and/or Agency experience.
