  • Summary of Major Responsibilities

    This position is a functional leader in the Medical Affairs function.  The position will report into Commercial Operations but perform as a resource to the Medical Affairs leadership team.  The role is responsible for responding to day-to-day needs of the leadership of Medical Affairs by taking action or connecting leaders to experts around the company.  Responsibilities include being the primary communications partner for Medical Affairs to all cross functional areas of the business to maintain awareness and alignment in goals and initiatives.  This person will perform as a liaison with co-promote partners and any newly acquired divisions of the business.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop business and project plans for initiatives that cut across the function, including creation and adherence to mission/vision, and improvements to internal operations.
    • Build and execute program roadmaps based on business group strategy across all functional areas and stakeholder input; to include formulating, organizing and monitoring inter-connected initiatives.
    • Monitor and report on progress of programs to leadership, including KPI’s.
    • Ensure that the functional leadership is efficient and effective as possible by anticipating their needs and providing operational support.
    • Create compelling internal and external presentations that leverage data to tell the right story to the intended audience.
    • Prepare communication and research for leadership.
    • Ensure that all internal meetings have a defined agenda and objectives.
    • Manage vendor relationships.
    • Oversight and tracking of budget and departmental spend, including contracting, PO, Invoicing and spend tracking – liaise with financial colleagues monthly.
    • Oversight and tracking of Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement process for the company.
    • Act as primary liaison for third party commercial partnerships.
    • Engage company resources such as change management, organizational engineering, commercial operations, analytics, administration, meeting and event support on behalf of the function to meet their needs.
    • Utilize strong oral and written communications/presentations, influence and persuasion, results orientation, facilitation, and teamwork skills.
    • Regular and reliable attendance.
    • Ability to work designated schedule.
    • Ability to work nights and/or weekends.
    • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 70% of a typical working day.

    • Ability to travel approximately 20% of working time.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Life Sciences or a related discipline.
    • Possession of PMI Project Management certification (PMP, CAMP, CMP or equivalent) and/or lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification at time of hire and maintain throughout employment in position.
    • 8+ years of relevant experience in life sciences, biotechnology, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, or medical device field.
    • 3+ years of program or project management experience with demonstrated knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
    • Proficient in basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.
    • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
    • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in a leadership role.
    • Experience managing and reporting financials for a function.
    • Experience working in a matrix management organization.
    • Experience working within or directly with a medical affairs function.
