  • Summary of Major Responsibilities

    The Project Manager is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating activities and leading cross-functional strategic initiatives while working with the business to follow best practices to ensure their projects meet business objectives and are accomplished on time and within budget.  This role helps ensure that project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives.


    This role will help to integrate new products and processes into the lab.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Acts as a business partner to identify when to form a project and guide business through the steps to do so
    • Directly or indirectly leads cross-functional teams to execute on project tasks to include effective creation and management of timelines, budgets, resources, risks and project objectives
    • Consults with project sponsors and reviews project proposals to determine goals, time frame, funding, allotment of resources and procedures for accomplishing projects
    • Supports and challenges project teams on the aspects of the solution being delivered
    • Helps team to identify and articulate business impacts of project including benefits, risks and change management considerations
    • Troubleshoots problems associated with coordination, development, or design of projects.  Escalates issues when critical risks arise and maintains pulse with project activities to ensure progress
    • Identifies cross-project and business unit interdependencies
    • Works with team on identifying stakeholders and developing stakeholder partnership strategy
    • Advises on the right level of governance by project and program
    • Mentors Project Team Leaders in project management processes, tools and techniques
    • Coaches and facilitates teams on development of process maps, value stream maps and root cause analyses
    • Demonstrated ability to balance cost, quality and schedule constraints while escalating issues as needed; Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance multiple competing priorities within and across multiple projects at the same time
    • Demonstrated success with oral and written communications/presentations, influence and persuasion, results orientation, facilitation, and teamwork skills
    • Experience working in a matrix management organization with primary responsibility for project success while relying on a team of resources which may or may not be direct reports
    • Moderate to advanced proficiency with MS Project as well as MS Visio, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures
    • Regular and reliable attendance
    • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds for approximately 5% of a typical working day
    • Ability to work seated for approximately 50% of a typical working day; Ability to work standing for approximately 50% of a typical working day
    • Ability to work in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day
    • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements
    • Ability to travel up to 30% of the working time, as determined by project needs


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or a related discipline; or high school degree/general education diploma and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
    • 5+ years of progressive, broad-based project experience
    • 3+ years working in a client-facing project management role
    • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
    • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 2+ years working in a regulated Lab environment
    • PMI Project Management certification
    • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) certification
    • Strategic planning experience
    • 5 years of experience in medical technology or related field
