Senior Application Analyst – Commercial Marketing

Summary of Major Responsibilities

As a Senior Application Analyst, you will work on business systems design and configuration, upgrades and improvements for assigned technology platforms. As a primary support contact for application end-users, the Senior Application Analyst will work to identify issues that arise in the application area as well as issues that impact other application teams, and work to resolve them.  The Analyst will perform impact analysis of desired changes, build and test systems changes, and identify areas of improvement associated with platform performance and opportunities to enable business processes and requirements. The Senior App Analyst will act as a mentor to more junior analysts on the team, support questions and may delegate activities to other analysts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimation of enhancement or support requests.
  • Guide workflow design, configure and test system changes, and analyze technical issues.
  • Liaise with business systems stakeholders and software vendor’s implementation staff, ensuring alignment of business needs with delivery of systems changes.
  • Develop an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization's workflows; proactively identify opportunities to improve business workflow with technology improvements.
  • Participate in training and work with end users.
  • Troubleshoot problems and questions.
  • Provide end-user support for issues entered into issue tracking systems.
  • Review the status of projects and issues with project leadership.
  • Creating project schedules using JIRA for Scrum or Kanban
  • Assign or delegate configuration or other activities to Application Analysts or Managed Services team members.
  • Act as delegate for Applications Manager for incident or problem resolution.
  • Provide mentorship for other peers and lead to solve problems, even if outside of normal responsibilities/scope.
  • Lead internal process design and documentation to drive continuous improvement for the IT department or team.
  • Ability to work within normal business hours, as well as on call, with potential for nights and weekends.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.
  • Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field; or high school degree/general education diploma and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years of experience developing or configuring technology solutions, either in an application analyst or project delivery role.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience configuring business systems software in a life science, healthcare, or related industry.
