Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Associate Director, Commercial Insights & Analytics will support different business units within Exact Sciences and align the insights and analytics plan with the brand strategic imperatives. They will design market research and analytics projects by identifying the critical business questions and information gaps and implement the appropriate methodology to address those gaps. This role will generate a detailed map of the disease state, market landscape, and market dynamics, and support Competitive Intelligence for the business.


The Associate Director, Insights & Analytics will work closely with cross-functional partners including marketing, commercial operations, pipeline, data strategy, analytics, corporate strategy, and medical as well as with the counterparts in other business units.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize existing market research and available data sources to address information and insights related questions made by the customers.
  • Proactively identify gaps in available research and plan, execute, and deliver routine and ad-hoc primary and secondary market research to the commercial teams.
  • Develop and execute the market research plan and strategy to elevate the data analysis capabilities at Exact Sciences; including prioritization of key business questions, vendor selection, working with vendor to design questionnaires, developing study design, and report developments and findings, and insights presentations.
  • Track competitor activity and provide timely assessment to stakeholders in the organization.
  • Develop and continuously improve reporting and tracking mechanisms, both tools and processes, to support effective and accurate market research data collection and analysis.
  • Work closely with business partners to ensure prompt and timely reporting of key findings to senior management.
  • Provide high quality and timely insights support for projects, strategic initiatives, business development proposals, and other investments.
  • Track and manage budget.
  • Manage vendors for effective execution of projects.
  • Lead teams, when assigned.
  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
  • Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
  • Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.
  • Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Skillful at supporting cross-functional cooperation and building strong working relationships across business unit/operating teams.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Sociology, Business Administration, or related field; or High School Degree/General Education diploma and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
  • 10+ years of direct or consultative experience in the Biotech or Pharmaceutical industries in oncology treatment and/or diagnostics space.
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, market research, analytics, Competitive Intelligence, commercial or payer assessment function with progressively increasing responsibility and scope and demonstrated strong performance; 2 years credit will be given for Master’s/PhD in relevant subject area.
  • 5+ years of experience with healthcare providers, laboratorians, patients, and payers for primary and secondary market research regarding patient journey, message, campaign, TPP development and testing, forecast development, positioning, and/or segmentation.
  • 1+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated success in employee development, coaching, hiring, and performance management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in STEM, Business, Sociology, or related field.
  • Consulting experience, secondary analytics experience, and/or payer analytics experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of one or more tools and languages; such as Tableau, Business Objects, SPSS, SAS, or SQL.
