Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Associate Director, Patient Marketing is accountable for developing, leading, and driving a patient marketing strategy and execution plan across our cancer diagnostic tests.  This position will manage offline and digital patient education and outreach efforts, including, but not limited to, advertising, video/infographs, written collateral, etc.  The successful candidate will effectively lead and establish strategy, tactics, and processes in collaboration with key internal and external teams (e.g., Digital Solutions, Commercial Product Marketing, Advocacy, Medical Affairs, Customer Service, and external agencies) to deliver effective programs that intercept, educate, and activate eligible patients and their loved ones.

This position will develop creative and robust patient marketing programs and metrics aimed at reaching eligible patients.  In addition, this position requires the ability to develop, monitor, and analyze metrics in order to efficiently measure success and prioritize tactics, messages, and resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead creation and execution of innovative cancer patient education tactics to support patient identification and retention.
  • Content owner for cancer diagnostic tests patient education websites and additional patient tools; including MyBreastCancerTreatment.org and MyProstateCancerTreatment.org.
  • Develop patient facing positioning and messaging in alignment with HCP initiatives that ensure short- and long-term strategic goals.
  • Work with market research to define adoption drivers and barriers, patient value proposition and messaging, and patient education strategy.
  • Manage agency partners for educational and promotional campaign materials and tactics.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of the U.S. patient marketing strategy; including tactics and budget allocation, while optimizing ROI.
  • Manage timeline, budget, and resources while ensuring compliance of regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Communicate via written and oral presentations about patient marketing progress to commercial and medical leadership.
  • Supervise staff including but not limited to organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
  • Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
  • Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.
  • Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally.

  • Ability to work seated for approximately 90% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
  • Ability and means to travel between Redwood City locations.
  • Ability to travel 20% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field.
  • 9+ years of relevant experience working in a sales, marketing, or commercial operations.
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing strategy and tactical planning with ability to convey plans to internal and external agency partners.
  • 2+ years of experience working at a healthcare/pharma or biotech company.
  • 2+ years of experience leading or directing people and/or project teams.
  • Track record of success in Patient marketing; including making key business decisions and leading implementation across the commercial organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage commercial insights and analytics data to drive decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA.
  • Work experience in a healthcare regulated environment like diagnostics, medical devices, or pharmaceutical.
