Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Medical Education and Grants Specialist develops content, both delivered to and received by a variety of audiences; including healthcare professionals, quality, Market Access and population health experts, researchers, and patients to inform, educate, and elevate disease state and product awareness. This role is responsible for providing direct support to the development and management, from concept to execution, of the company’s Medical Education initiatives with a focus on development of medical materials to support Medical Education efforts. This role liaises with all commercial functions, with a strong and focused partnership on education of clinical and real-world data and Evidence Communications. Medical Education is a core function of the Medical Affairs department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, management, and maintenance of Medical Education materials.
  • Support Market Access and Access Strategy Outcomes and Population Health (SOPH) counterparts in strategic medical alignment of educational materials.
  • Complete annual and ongoing needs assessments around Medical Education plans and content necessary to facilitate release timing consistent with cross-functional and corporate priorities.
  • Maintain the Medical Education strategy and tactical execution; elevate and augment strategic educational initiatives.
  • Manage the development and production of Medical Education content with self-guided and cross-functional inputs.
  • Maintain scientific, competitive, and disease specific knowledge to ensure appropriateness of Medical Education needs.
  • Assist in the management of databases and repositories with accurate, evidence-based, and balanced scientific/medical information for intra-departmental and cross-functional utilization, both written and verbal.
  • Oversee the unrestricted Medical Education grant submission and review process.
  • Develop, review, and/or deliver scientific resources used for product/disease state slide decks and Medical Education initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with Evidence Communication and Education colleagues on team objectives and initiatives.
  • Lead the content development of digital tools to support product portfolio.
  • Interact, bidirectionally, with key Commercial and Laboratory stakeholders to ensure proper utilization and dissemination of medical content.
  • Contribute to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and processes to support the Evidence Communication and Education function.
  • Maintain knowledge base of current Medical Evidence in collaboration with the Medical Information team and appropriately transmit knowledge base.
  • Support Medical Affairs’ efforts related to external presentation development and delivery.
  • Complete all assigned trainings and professional development requirements.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.
  • Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or other related field relevant to a scientific or medical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in a field related to the essential duties of the job.
  • 2+ years of Medical Affairs experience with strong business acumen in molecular diagnostics and life sciences.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize assigned workload and employ efficient time management strategies when performing Medical Education activities.
  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Professional working knowledge of medical terminology, pathophysiology, and statistics.
  • Professional working knowledge with medical information and/or Medical Education within the pharma/biotechnology space.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Gastrointestinal (GI), Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), or Market Access experience.
  • Knowledge of US regulatory standards related to communication and dissemination of medical information.
  • Experience in vendor relationship management.
