Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Buyer is responsible for the procurement of raw materials across all areas of Exact Sciences business; including, but not limited to, Research, Development, Operations, and Services. Other areas of focus include supply recommendations from approved suppliers list, supporting departments in determination of the most suitable product or service to meet their needs, and following documented purchasing methods to meet quality and financial requirements. The Buyer will also be responsible for maintaining delivery dates, communicating changes of delivery schedules to end users, expediting orders, and resolving discrepancies in orders and deliveries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire purchase order process; including appropriate documentation, data entry, submission, order expediting, and reconciliation of related issues.
  • Support of continuous improvement within the ERP/MRP system and other systems utilized by the supply chain team.
  • Maintain ERP item master purchasing and planning attributes for buy items.
  • Route supplier material change notifications for review and assessment by expanded cross-functional teams and coordinate actions and follow-up as a result of the review.
  • Identify and communicate changes in schedules and delivery with applicable teams and end users to achieve resolution.
  • Follow documented procedures and complete training on time.
  • Prepare reports, metrics, and data summaries, as requested.
  • Assist other department personnel in determining the most suitable product or service to meet their needs in accordance with documented processes and approved suppliers.
  • Assist the Accounts Payable team with timely resolution and information gathering related to invoicing discrepancies or concerns.
  • Check requisitions for completeness and clarity; obtain any missing information, if needed, to support clear purchase order generation.
  • Ensure appropriate approvals are obtained on the requisition to support order placement.

  • Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Supply Chain, or related field; or High School Diploma/General Education Diploma and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2+ years of buying, supply chain, or related work experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Proficient computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in a Biotech/Pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • 1+ years of SAP experience.
  • APICS CPIM certification.
