Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Director, Product Lifecycle Management, MAP Liquid and GEM ExTra is a highly visible, influential, and interactive position that is accountable for product management of clinical next generation sequencing (NGS) products, project delivery on liquid biopsy product development, and providing leadership and guidance to team members. In addition, this role is responsible for establishing short-and-long term plans that transform the product strategy into clear tactics and strong results, and subsequently driving execution of those plans to optimize business performance for our therapy selection portfolio, which includes both tissue (GEM ExTra) and blood based (MAP Liquid) products.


The Director, Product Lifecycle Management, MAP Liquid and GEM ExTra will create the product strategy and drive execution of the plans for multiple clinical NGS therapy selection products. This position is responsible for the program definition, voice of customer research, target product profile, intended use, market opportunity assessment and financial model, customer requirements, go-to-market strategy, product lifecycle roadmap, and business/ strategic plan. This position will also lead teams that will take projects from concept to commercial readiness, and drive initiatives that will take strategic priorities from ideas to operational excellence. In addition, this role will oversee a team responsible for product management tactics; including, but not limited to, implementation of test requisition forms, seamless integration of new products into the order-to-reports infrastructure, report design and updates, management of specimen collection and transport kit boxes, and execution of product enhancements/indication expansions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct activities for MAP Liquid and GEM ExTra products; including, but not limited to, secure and mobilize the people, budget, and other resources required to execute program objectives.
  • Develop product lifecycle project and product timeline, plan, and ensure successful execution; determine critical program milestones, independently.
  • Provide clear barriers to team progress and resolve conflicts within the team and outside the team.
  • Develop and maintain the long-term strategy and business plan; including, but not limited to, evidence generation, indications and/or geographic expansion, market entry strategy, and partner collaboration opportunities.
  • Synthesize key market and clinical trends, customer needs, and competitive offerings to develop differentiated product roadmaps, new product features and functionalities, supportive solutions and services, and recommendations for investments to support product growth.
  • Assess market opportunities to provide robust financial analysis and develop business cases for new product concepts.
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations to convey program strategies and/or facilitate key decisions to a broad set of stakeholders, which may include senior leadership.
  • Provide product management leadership with deep interactions and collaboration with research and development scientists, commercial, clinical development, lab operations, IT platform, market access, regulatory, business development, and marketing colleagues.
  • Represent MAP Liquid or GEM ExTra on corporate initiatives, portfolio strategy, and prioritization efforts.
  • Act as subject matter expert and strategic leader in departmental, team, core team, and/or cross-functional meetings.
  • Work on problems that are extremely complex in scope in which analysis requires an evaluation of intangible variables.

  • Ability to travel 30% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Science related field, or field as outlined in the essential duties; or Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Master’s Degree.
  • 10+ years of professional experience working in a team setting in the healthcare industry.
  • 8+ years of product lifecycle management and/or new product development experience in the diagnostic, biopharma, or medical device fields.
  • 7+ years of experience in a regulated environment, to include CLIA, FDA, CE, and IVDR.
  • 5+ years of supervisory or core team lead experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and train team members effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership in product management/development with the ability to translate strategies into actionable plans and drive successful execution.
  • Professional working knowledge in oncology.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, or OneNote.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree in Life Sciences, Business, or field as outlined in the essential duties.
  • Experience with new product development from concept through launch.
  • Experience in clinical NGS testing for precision oncology applications.
  • Experience with working in both the clinical environment and the diagnostic lab environment to include HCPS and testing laboratories.
  • Experience with driving clinical adoption and reimbursement of value-based diagnostics through clinical and economic impact studies.
  • Experience with liquid biopsy new product development.
  • Demonstrated ability with successfully delivering programs on time.
  • Strong analytical skills for financial modeling or data analysis.
  • Ability to build and analyze P&Ls to support business cases.
