The Manager, Specimen Processing manages the Specimen Processing department at the Exact Sciences Laboratories. This position is responsible for overseeing the processes related to technology transfer of new assays, new sample types or assay improvements, which may include, but it not limited to, the general supervision and development of all aspects of implementation, space planning, coordination of cross-functional resources (e.g., IT), the development of processes, procedures, and training of laboratory staff while assuring that quality standards are being met consistently, and processes and systems are consistently emulated across all sites. This individual provides expertise and mentoring to laboratory staff and serves as the liaison to internal and external entities, including Exact Sciences Corporate and vendor relationships.  This position is also responsible for incorporating and being part of the oversight group for the sample management system.  The Manager, Specimen Processing will assist with the design, maintenance, and implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) programs across the Lab and ensures the laboratory and the staff are in compliance with all laws and regulations required by CLIA, CAP, OSHA, CMS, and any other applicable legislative organizations.   The hours for this position are Monday - Friday from 2pm - 10:30pm.

The Lead Certified Clinical Laboratory Scientist provides leadership support to the technical lab staff. This person is also responsible for being the workflow and troubleshooting point person in the technical lab.  This position is primarily responsible for coordinating and conducting day-to-day activities in the laboratory to ensure timely and accurate testing. The Accessioning Technician II is responsible for handling and recording patient and study specimens sent to Exact Sciences for testing and supporting management in triaging workflow issues. Daily operations within the Accessioning department include, but not limited to; order processing, case management, sample processing, management of associated documents and records, and inter-departmental communication and collaboration. An important part of the accessioning process is to identify incomplete or missing information and/or unacceptable specimens received, and to initiate outreach to physicians and other stakeholders for clarification in a timely manner to minimize impact on test turn-around-time.   The Accessioning Technician II has the knowledge and skills to perform duties beyond the job functions of the Accessioning Technician I with expected quality and throughput, for example, processing moderately complex order and case types, troubleshooting common issues, managing orders and samples on hold, reviewing supplemental documents for missing information, assisting management in SOP revision, record review, interviews, staff training, data collection, tracking & trending, addressing non-conformance, or project planning & execution as assigned.   To be successful in this role, the Accessioning Technician II must demonstrate the ability to follow standard operating procedures and work independently in a regulated work environment, possess a good understanding of the job requirements and function effectively as a member of the Exact Sciences team. He or she is adaptive to change, detail oriented, focused, effective at managing time, organized and able to communicate within the clinical laboratory teams and to key internal customers to achieve common goals. He or she will participate in process improvement activities to ensure scalability and operational excellence. He or she will support or participate in internal and external audits, quality assurance and quality management activities to ensure laboratory compliance with the applicable quality standards and regulatory requirements.   The position will report to the Accessioning Supervisor within the Laboratory Operations organization at Exact Sciences in Redwood City, CA.

The Mission of the Precision Oncology Business Unit of Exact Sciences is to transform treatment decisions and outcomes in cancer by delivering clinically actionable diagnostics, both as in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) devices and as Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs) conducted in our Redwood City Clinical Laboratory. The Senior Laboratory Automation Engineer will provide technical expertise to drive continuous improvement of our state-of-the-art diagnostic tests for cancer patients.   The Process Engineering team is a multidisciplinary group of engineers with backgrounds in mechanical, electrical, software, and process engineering.  The Senior Laboratory Automation Engineer work will focus on designing, building, and optimizing integrated laboratory automation systems. Reporting to the Director of Systems Engineering, the Senior Device and Process Systems Engineer will provide technical expertise, vision, and leadership to drive continuous improvement of our state-of-the-art diagnostic tests for cancer patients.   The Senior Device and Process Systems Engineer will lead projects to innovate, analyze, design, and implement improved business processes and laboratory workflows for diagnostic tests conducted in our Clinical Laboratory. Beginning with analysis of the business process requirements, these process design and integration efforts will encompass the generation and collection of requirements, design, and architecture, incorporation of applicable automation technologies, integration of multiple subsystems, and end-to-end testing.    Representing Lab Operations, the successful candidate will also be a key member on project teams developing new IVD devices and laboratory automations, ensuring their efficient and effective transfer into production, and will also contribute to ongoing improvements of existing commercialized processes and products.   It is critical that the candidate has strong expertise in medical device quality standards and regulations, including ISO13485, ISO14971, 21CFR Part 820, and experience in the operationalization of new diagnostic and/or medical devices. Demonstrated ability to effectively execute multiple projects simultaneously with Lean Methodology is required. Experience with business process analysis and design is required, ideally including experience with order to revenue processes.
