The Accessioning Technician I is responsible for handling and recording patient and study specimens sent to Exact Sciences for testing.  Daily operations within the Accessioning department include, but not limited to; order processing, case management, sample processing, management of associated documents and records, and inter-departmental communication and collaboration.  An important part of the accessioning process is to identify incomplete or missing information and/or unacceptable specimens received, and to initiate outreach to physicians and other stakeholders for clarification in a timely manner to minimize impact on test turn-around-time.   To be successful in this role, the Accessioning Technician I must demonstrate the ability to follow standard operating procedures and work independently in a regulated work environment, the ability to complete scheduled tasks and assignments with expected quality and throughput, and function effectively as a member of the Exact Sciences team.  He or she is adaptive to change, detail oriented, focused, effective at managing time, organized and able to communicate within the department and to key internal customers to achieve common goals.  He or she will participate in process improvement activities to ensure scalability and operational excellence.  He or she will support or participate in internal and external audits and quality assurance activities to ensure laboratory compliance with the applicable quality standards and regulatory requirements.   The position will report to the Accessioning Supervisor within the Laboratory Operations organization at Exact Sciences in Redwood City, CA.

The Specimen Processing Trainer performs the functions of their position under the guided direction of the Specimen Processing Manager, Specimen Processing Supervisor or designee.  The Specimen Processing Trainer will follow all laboratory policies and procedures and maintain accurate data reporting practices to ensure consistent and diligent capture of specimen processing training. In this position the Specimen Processing Trainer supports the Specimen Processing Manager and Specimen Processing Supervisor in ensuring that all Specimen Processing team members are properly and adequately trained to facilitate the timely and accurate processing of patient specimens. The Trainer will also be responsible for keeping all Specimen Processing employees up to date on lab processes and procedures through editing training materials and competencies to reflect current processes, providing follow-up conversations and retraining when necessary, and conducting training for all employees on new pieces of automation.

The Process Development Engineer will participate in many aspects of the design, development, implementation, and support of instrumentation and process in laboratory operations.   This includes, but is not limited to, development from concept, requirements definition, assay development to automation, optimization, testing, validation, training, and troubleshooting. The Process Development Engineer will be part of cross-functional teams working to ensure that processes meet stringent performance, regulatory, and operational requirements and are robust, efficient, and scalable.  The Process Development Engineer may also participate in aspects of creating, monitoring, and improving standardized processes for engineering activities, such as software and instrument change or configuration management, integration, user testing, and training programs. As a member of our Service and Applications Engineering team, this Service Engineer II is responsible for service and applications support of complex robotic workstations, qPCR instruments, as well as other laboratory equipment. He or she will conduct preventative maintenance and troubleshoot instrument problems by performing root cause analysis, implementing and documenting appropriate corrective actions, while maintaining instruments to peak performance for Exact Sciences Precision Oncology’s various laboratory environments. These environments include the Clinical Laboratory where our industry-leading Oncotype DX® clinical diagnostic assays are run, the R&D laboratories where new product concepts are developed, and our Manufacturing and QC laboratories, which provide high-quality reagents for use in the other lab functions within Exact Sciences.   The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with liquid handling robotics and an in-depth understanding of current laboratory instruments used for nucleic acid isolation, quantification, and downstream analysis using quantitative RT-PCR.  Activities will include responding to instrument-related errors, performing root cause analysis to identify the problem, and implementing an appropriate corrective action to repair the instrument in a time-critical customer service-oriented manner.  He or she will be expected to develop a working knowledge of all Exact Sciences laboratory processes and associated systems such as our Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).  This Service Engineer II will participate in cross-functional teams working in a variety of areas.  These efforts will require excellent communication and collaboration with colleagues in Process Engineering, Assay Chemistry, our Clinical and Development Laboratories, Program Management, Research, Analytical Sciences, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and other groups.    The ideal candidate will be working cooperatively in a dynamic and interdisciplinary laboratory environment, adapting quickly to change and new technical challenges while providing strong technical leadership.  This is an excellent opportunity for a team player to participate in the growth of a fast-paced, pioneering company that is developing systematic approaches to applying genomic technology to health, disease, and medical practice.

The Specimen Processing Supervisor (internally known as Accessioning Supervisor) is responsible for supervision of personnel and daily operations of the Accessioning department including, but not limited to, specimen box receipt process, test order processing, sample processing, material return and management of associated documents and records.   The Specimen Processing Supervisor oversees the pre- and post-analytical sample processing activities. This role will participate in these activities and troubleshoot sample, process or system issues as needed.  The Specimen Processing Supervisor will also participate in the development and administration of policies and procedures, contribute to continuous process improvement to ensure consistent, high quality processes, and best practices established within Laboratory Operations.  This role will support or participate in internal and external audits and quality management activities to ensure laboratory compliance with the applicable quality standards and regulatory requirements.   The Specimen Processing Supervisor serves as a liaison between Accessioning and various functional groups including, but not limited to Histology, Customer Service, Analytical Laboratory, Process and Service Engineering, Information Technology, Human Resources, Quality, Supply Chain Management and Workplace Services groups to report and address immediate issues or concerns.  This role must also act as a liaison between staff members and the management team to support effective communication and change management.  The Specimen Processing Supervisor will assist in the assessment of staffing levels to ensure adequate laboratory capacity and effective resource allocations, and will recruit and hire new employees or contingency workers.  This role will also be responsible for the ongoing management of their staff, which include, but are not limited to, partnering with staff to create and execute personal development plans, conducting performance reviews and ensuring appropriate work scheduling, training and competency assessment.   To be successful in this complex and high-volume work environment, the Specimen Processing Supervisor must demonstrate leadership, operation management and organizational skills.  This person  must be comfortable with facilitating timely and sound decision-making with data, have the ability to remain professional and composed under pressure, the ability to work independently and in a team environment, and the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the laboratory and across departments to achieve common goals.   Hours: 9:00am - 5:30pm
