The Research Scientist I, with limited guidance from more experienced scientists, works individually and in collaboration with others on multiple projects which are moderate to complex in scope. The Medical Director, Hepatobiliary Cancers (HB) will work closely with the Screening Business Unit leadership team, and be responsible for development and execution of the company’s hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) surveillance and other related pipeline strategies; including, but not limited to, the design and implementation of hepatobiliary cancer early detection test development, validation, regulatory approval, evidence generation, guideline inclusion and contracting/reimbursement pathways.   In partnership with the R&D and pipeline teams, this role will provide key medical insights and clinical perspectives across all stages of product development, from concept generation to practice application. The Medical Director, Hepatobiliary Cancers will develop relationships and regularly engage with key opinion leaders from diverse stakeholder organizations outside of Exact Sciences. This position will contribute to the review, interpretation, and reporting of key study results and will also help design and implement the medical affairs functional support for HB tests.   The Medical Director, Hepatobiliary Cancers will be both a leader of and participant on internal cross-functional teams and working groups; including, but not limited to, members of the business development, research and development, biostatistics, clinical operations, medical affairs, and commercial teams.   This position can be based in Madison, WI, or be field based.
